About the watch

Cartier has built a solid reputation in the world of luxury, thanks to its iconic collections of watches and jewelry that are easily recognizable. Among these, the Santos collection stands out. While we are known for appreciating vintage, we can't help but recognize the value of modern. The 2018 Cartier Santos is a perfect tribute to the original models from 1904, with a contemporary twist. This model in particular boasts several strong points: the classic Cartier design with Roman numerals on the white dial, the blue sapphire crown that adds a touch of elegance, the robust shape of the case that allows it to be worn with sportswear. Last but not least, the bracelet is easily adjustable and removable, avoiding the need to visit a watchmaker and reducing the risk of scratches. The watch comes complete with inner and outer box, warranty card, unused leather strap with folding clasp, instruction manual, strap adjustment tool and all the additional links for the adjustable steel bracelet.

Know your watch

Launched in 1989 under the aegis of the Richemont Group, the Tank Américaine represents a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic Cintrée design. Its elongated case, combined with a slightly curved caseback, was designed to appeal to the tastes of the American market, which is more oriented towards watches of a larger size and with a strong presence. Initially launched with quartz movements, the collection has expanded significantly over the years, including a wide range of mechanical options, as well as variations in size, materials and complications. This diversity has generated a certain ambiguity among collectors, who often struggle to place the Américaine within the Cartier hierarchy, between entry-level and high-end models.

This specific model, the Reference 1741, embodies Cartier's artisanal excellence. It features an 18k white gold case with a curved sapphire crystal, a white guilloché dial with printed Roman numerals and elegant sword-shaped hands in blued steel. A date window at 6 o'clock and the famous sapphire cabochon crown complete the design, which houses the in-house automatic Cartier calibre 120. Paired with a black leather strap and an 18k white gold Ardillon buckle, this watch offers ideal comfort on any wrist.

Making this piece even more exclusive, the watch is accompanied by the full set, including the original box and papers, and is in excellent condition. A must-have option for collectors and enthusiasts. For those fascinated by the world of Cartier but not finding what they are looking for in the Tank Louis or Santos models, the Tank Américaine represents an attractive alternative, combining timeless elegance with modern versatility.
