About the watch

Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest watchmaking houses in the world, with roots dating back to 1791. Its history is characterized by a balance between technical innovation and aesthetic refinement, which has made the brand a benchmark in fine watchmaking. Among its iconic creations, complications such as the famous Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges stand out, but also a strong focus on sports and diving watches.

The Sea Hawk collection was born as a line dedicated to diving watches, characterized by robustness, functionality and a design conceived to withstand the most extreme conditions. Launched in the 60s, it has evolved over time by integrating advanced technologies and unique details, maintaining a strong identity linked to the marine world.

The special editionMission of Mermaidsis an example of how Girard-Perregaux has married its artisanal tradition with an environmental cause, strengthening the link between Sea Hawk watches and the protection of the oceans. This model represents not only an excellent diving tool, but also a symbol of respect for the sea and its fragile ecosystem.

The Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk “Mission of Mermaids” (ref. 49960-19-1305SFK6A) is a robust dive watch created in collaboration with Susan Rockefeller. Introduced in 2013, it draws inspiration from Rockefeller’s film Mission of Mermaids, a poetic homage to the oceans and a plea for their protection. The watch features a 44 mm stainless steel case with a crown positioned at 4 o’clock and a unidirectional bezel enhanced with a rubber detail. The black honeycomb dial is enhanced with green details on the minute markers and the minute, second and power reserve hands. A small white mermaid can be seen on the seconds subdial at 10 o’clock. The caseback is engraved with a green painted mermaid and the phrase “Protect What is Precious,” underlining the commitment to marine conservation. Powered by the GP03300-0074 automatic movement, it offers a 46-hour power reserve and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Water resistant to 1,000 meters (3,300 feet), it features a helium release valve at 9 o'clock, making it ideal for deep-sea diving. A black rubber strap with a steel folding clasp completes the design. Available in excellent condition, complete with original box and papers.
