About the watch
The RM005 is a Richard Mille classic, with its imposing and bold tonneau case, combined with impeccable watchmaking mechanics. The semi-skeletonized dial features a sapphire date disc and floating numerals that give it a layered and fascinating look. The RM005 was the brand's first automatic watch and introduced a titanium mainplate, a rare material in the watchmaking industry due to its difficulty in machining.
The movement also introduced the "variable geometry" rotor, which allows the owner to adjust the sensitivity of the winding mechanism. An active user can reduce the sensitivity to avoid the stress of continuous winding, while a less active user can increase the sensitivity to ensure that the watch is always wound.
Know your watch
What makes a watch truly iconic? For us, it is its immediate recognisability.
Think of the Omega Speedmaster, the Cartier Tank and the Rolex Submariner. Each of these models is unmistakable, recognisable from a distance thanks to its silhouette and distinctive design, with or without a visible logo. Following the same path, Richard Mille is a brand that has established itself thanks to its unique features and bold innovations.
In 1999, master watchmaker Richard Mille set out on an independent journey that would transform the industry. Since then, his creations have captivated enthusiasts, sparked debates, and graced the wrists of celebrities around the world. Known for their advanced technology, striking designs, limited production, and prices comparable to luxury cars, Richard Mille watches have spearheaded a new era in high-end watchmaking, marking a revolution that has also influenced the success of other independent prestige brands.
The RM001, Mille’s first model, was a turning point in contemporary watchmaking. This semi-prototype bridged the worlds of motorsport and watchmaking, introducing lightweight materials, innovative complications, and an aesthetic inspired by both hypercars and the traditions of the Vallée de Joux. Since then, Richard Mille has continued to break convention, redefining not only what a watch should look like, but also how it should feel on the wrist—because wearing a featherweight RM is an experience unlike any other.
